Drummond’s Parent Teacher Organization has lots of exciting things in store for the school’s families every year, and there many ways you can help out!

Of course there are lots of family events scheduled throughout the year. In addition to February’s Family Reading Night and June’s End of the Year Picnic, the PTO hosts Ice Cream Sales (and occasional other goodies) each Friday, as well as free movie nights and other family-friendly outings and fund-raisers throughout the year.

Because communication is so important – especially in a magnet school – the PTO puts together the Drummond Family Directory each fall, so students, parents and teachers can easily contact each other for play dates or to talk. The PTO also works with Ms. Wheatley and the school’s older students to provide regular newsletters to let you know what’s going on in school. Volunteers are always welcome to help students with their writing skills.

Homeroom representative volunteers are also important in the communication process. These key adults work with the teachers to help get the extra things done in the classroom, and they go the extra mile to let families know what’s going on in the assigned classroom.

PTO is also continuing with our ongoing fundraiser Drummond Dollars – where you purchase gift cards. You get the entire face value of the gift card, and the company donates a percentage of the cost to our school – it’s a win-win for everyone! And we can’t forget Drummond eagle T-shirts sales – or the annual uniform trade up, which gives families an opportunity to swap those gently used clothes for a new size.

If you’d like to volunteer to help, please contact a PTO officer or leave a note in an officer’s mailbox in the office. Also, be sure to check your child’s backpack (and the PTO website www.drummondpto.org) for details.

There’s always a lot of great things going on at Drummond, and the PTO can’t do it all without your help. When you can, please try and attend one of our regular meetings. We look forward to seeing you there!
