Drummond Montessori is an urban school that has reinvented itself. Building on its longstanding tradition (1893) in the Bucktown neighborhood, Drummond School is based on a time-tested philosophy that is usually reserved for private school education. In 2004, with federal funding, Drummond became the first public Montessori School in the City of Chicago — the largest urban district in the United States to embrace this challenge.

We are proud of our faculty who show extraordinary dedication to our students and our innovative program. In order to be certified as Directors and Directresses, all Montessori faculty members must actively participate in and complete a 500-hour training program through a nationally accredited training center. We have been and continue to be fortunate to work closely with Midwest Montessori Teacher Training Center in Evanston, Illinois (www.mmttc.com), which has been instrumental in our success.
