Drummond Montessori is a great example of an urban school that is reinventing itself. Building on its longstanding tradition (1893) in the Bucktown neighborhood, Drummond School has taken on the rigorous challenge of adopting a new philosophy —one that has been time tested and is usually reserved for private school education. After receiving necessary federal funding, Drummond became the first public Montessori School in the City of Chicago — the largest urban district in the United States to embrace this challenge.

We are very proud of our faculty who have shown extraordinary dedication to our students and our innovative program. In order to be certified as Directors and Directresses, all Montessori faculty members must actively participate in and complete a 500-hour training program through a nationally accredited training center. We have been and continue to be fortunate to work closely with Midwest Montessori Teacher Training Center in Evanston (www.mmttc.com) which has been instrumental in our success.
