Drummond Cooks! is held at the beginning of each school year in September. Sponsored by the PTO, it offers a perfect opportunity for Drummond families share a traditional family dish on Drummond's lawn, gather together and meet new families.
Drummond's annual football game between the seventh and eighth grade students. This tradition is all in good fun and held during the school day at a local park near the school.
Rock the Block Walkathon
Sponsored by the PTO, this is their only fundraiser for the year. Usually bringing in about $5,000; this event features a whole-school walk around the building, the block and even onto the new Bloomingdale Trail/ the 606. Other fitness-focused activities are included in the day, as well as healthy snacks. Held during the school day, we love having parent volunteers rock the block with us!
Any and all Drummond students are welcome to participate in the Variety Show, usually held in the winter. Students must be prepared for rehearsals and responsible for their own materials to participate. We have so much talent at Drummond, it is an incredible show!
For four days in January, Drummond's Elementary II (4th-6th grade) students travel to Nature's Classroom in Mukwonago, Wisconsin. The partnership between Drummond Montessori and Nature's Classroom has been going strong since 2013. Nature's Classroom offers a perfect extension to our Montessori curriculum and our students love the chance to enjoy Wisconsin’s natural wonders while stretching their independence away from home. DMM Gala: Pink Tower Event and Silent Auction
Drummond Montessori Matters is our annual school-wide fundraising campaign. These efforts culminate in a party held in March, that features a Wine Pull, Silent Auction, Live Auction, dancing and great times! In the past, DMM has raised as much as $100,000 at this annual event.
At the beginning of the school year, Drummond staff come together to decide on a school-wide theme for the year. Each classroom uses fiction/non-fiction texts, field trips, science experiments and activities to connect to this theme throughout the year. For one evening in May, we display or present all the work connected to the theme. It is a bonding experience for our whole community to come together in this culminating event.
This is a favorite annual event! In a showdown for the ages, the seventh and eighth grade middle school students take on Drummond's staff in our annual volleyball game. Cheered (or jeered) on by the entire student body- staff has been known to surrender to some pretty tough competition.
Middle School students (7-8th grade) take a bi-annual 4-day trip to our nation’s capital. The Washington DC trip highlights national monuments and memorials as well as the Smithsonian Institute.
Pretty Lake Camp
Middle School students (7-8th grade) take a bi-annual 3-day trip to Pretty Lake Camp in Mattawan, Michigan. Sleeping in tents, collecting firewood, building campfires and sharing cooking detail are all part of the experience of survival in the elements. During the day, students have team-building activities, high-ropes courses and hikes in the beautiful Michigan woods.
Last Day of School Picnic
Drummond Montessori annually hosts a school-wide picnic sponsored by the PTO. The kick off to summer vacation is a celebration of all that we have accomplished throughout the year. Past Picnic highlights have included a teacher dunk tank, snow cones, face painting, games, fresh fruit cups, veggies and hot dog lunches.
